The problem with playing hands this way, which I have been guilty of myself, is that you are not giving yourself a chance to make a decision. You are either a big dog, a biggish favourite, or slightly better than even money. But you won't know. This is why it is often better to bet than go for the tricksy check raise.

I would recommend you check raise the flop with two other players still in the hand.

Your raise on the turn is fine. You should be winning. If you are beat, your opp. doesn't have enough money to hurt you.

Thank you for the responses. You guys are right, it is a risky play, especially if he checks behind me on the turn. As it turns out, he had two pair + flush draw + gutshot, so he had many outs, but I held up.
