Re: Apple iPod,versus Dell DJ-20
i haven't tried the dell, but having an ipod hooked up to my stereos at home and in the car is about the greatest thing ever. although trying to change songs while driving is about the most distracting and unsafe thing i could possibly do.

Re: Apple iPod,versus Dell DJ-20
I know nothing about the Dell, but I consider my iPod to be the best purchase I've ever made (except for maybe the Mexican wrestling mask I just picked up in Mazatlan for $11).

Re: Apple iPod,versus Dell DJ-20
if you've got a mac I would go with the ipod, like everything apple makes it's very seamless and there are lots of good shareware programs written for mac and ipods.
dell probably won't even support their hardware with a mac. --turnipmonster |

Re: Apple iPod,versus Dell DJ-20
BTW, if you want to use the iPod in your car, I would suggest a cassette adapter rather than one of those FM transmitters. I bought one (called an iRock) and it didn't work well because it's hard to find an "open" frequency in the Seattle area. The tape adapter works much better. (You can get a $5 cable to hook up to your home stereo -- or use Apple's new AirPort thing for music. Pretty cool.)
Are you thinking about getting one of the new Photo iPods? It's more money, but it's got a color screen and you can get a 60-gig model. I'm seriously considering it. |

Re: Apple iPod,versus Dell DJ-20
a headphone to rca splitter cable running to your head unit is much higher sound quality than a tape, if you really want to be picky. but yes, the fm transmitters are horrid.
