Balls o\' Steel - KQs
Ok, here's the deal. I have KQ of hearts in CO-1 in an okay .5/1 game at Paradise. There are a few bad players and a few decent, tricky players and there's not enough 5-way limping for my taste. Still, it's cool. Three limpers to me and I raise, buying the button, SB calls, BB folds.
Ok, flop is an acceptable K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Two players check, somebody folds, somebody checks, I bet. (No, that's right, he folded.) Two players call including the SB. Turn: T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Bad turn for me but it's checked and I bet it. SB calls me which is bad - he's not terrible and I don't see what he's calling with here that I'm happy about. Other guy folds. River is the 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and I bet. He can lick me. Against a semi-okay slightly tricky player, how often do you bet this? NT |

Three limpers to me and I raise, buying the button [/ QUOTE ] You're also raising because KQs is a value raise, right? not just for the button? just checking. Flop good, Turn fine, River nice too. Best not worry about SB, may be in with Kx and doesn't know how to play it, A6o with the A spades, QJo? I would be inclined to bet it. Why fear a meekly played KJ, JT or flush? Regards, Pete Harris |

Re: Balls o\' Steel - KQs
Yes, I raised it for value also. Just a little narrative device there in saying that I bought the button, so I didn't have to say everyone folded. That's what I get for trying to take advantage of bison's converter being down.
Do you hear that, bison? Actually, I've been enjoying posting these hands without the converter. It's kind of fun. NT |

Bet, I think the tricky SB will check/raise any hand you want to worry about on the turn.

Re: Balls o\' Steel - KQs
I agree with Pete. I too would be inclined to bet it. Sure, you're risking being beat by the spade flush, but you've also got the top pair with a good kicker and a possibility of a straight if an or nine comes on the river (though I would only count 6 outs for this possibility, given the flush potential). As long as no one is showing resistance, bet to your heart's content -- no pun intended -- as far as I'm concerned. I would bet it every time, especially against a tricky player. Make him pay to beat you if he is drawing for a flush.

Re: Balls o\' Steel - KQs
As long as he keeps checking, I keep betting.
I'd guess he had something like AJ. If he had AK, KJ or better he'd raise it somewhere if he's decent. |
