I thought it might be as easy as just creating new icons...but it wasn't...as i wrote in my original message, it gives me weird messages any time i try to place anything on the desktop or create new shortcuts there -- errors I've never seen before (disk is full, or something like that, even though disk is clearly not full).
Yes, I tried the 'creating new user' solution, and it seemed to work fine -- but I think i have decided to just reinstall. If i did in fact corrupt some registry pathways, i'd rather just have a completely fresh start on things instead of taking the risk that i didn't sidestep the problem completely by simply creating a new user. Thanks everyone. |

Well I would try a repair to see if it fix it first...just my 2 cents but a re-install is a good thing to do every now and then anyway though.
