AK suited first hand call 3 all ins?
played a $20 SnG. First hand playing the button get dealt AK suited. 3 players limp including UTG, i raise 3 x pot everyone else folds. UTG goes all in and the 2 other limpers call also going all in!! What do you do? Call? Fold? I folded, was this correct?

The chance of one of them having AA or KK is just too great. Fold.

Re: AK suited first hand call 3 all ins?
I think you made the right choice. With all those all ins you may be up against both AA and KK meaning you're drawing to only a straight or a flush. If you consider yourself to be better than the average players in this tourny you must fold to give yourself an opportunity to win more chips later on. (If you lose this hand you wont have that opportunity).
Out of curiousity what hands were shown in the all in? Falker |

Re: AK suited first hand call 3 all ins?
at LEAST one of them has a high pair. The fact that another player calls suggests that he may have AK or a high pair also, so you need to hit an AK with a few of those gone. So, at best a coin flip and at worest you're drawing dead. What do you think is the best move?
Maybe a call at 5+1, but no way at 20+2. |

i raise 3 x pot [/ QUOTE ] do you mean 3x bb? or 3 x pot? if its pot the raise is a little too much at this stage and I think that a 3-4x bb raise will accomplish the same as a 3 x pot bet. with regards to your fold you made the right play. at the $20 level a limp with a re-raise definitely smells of a big pocket pair AA/KK/QQ. With that many its a good time to get out, IMHO. |

Re: AK suited first hand call 3 all ins?
I know that this situation happens a lot on the first hand of a tourney, but I'd hit that fold button quick.
You have a drawing hand and chances are that you are up against at least 2 made hands. And if one player has aces or kings (my guess is UTG) you're in big trouble. I would pick a better spot to gamble. Tim |

Re: AK suited first hand call 3 all ins?
I'm gonna go against the grain and say that at 20+2 I think you probably have 4 or 5 live outs and above 25% equity in the hand. Purely EV and $/hour wise, I would lean towards calling.
If you want to maximize your return on this particular tourney or were playing higher stakes, I'd fold. Also, does 3x pot mean you raised to 225? If so, it's a muuuch easier call, but never do that again. |

Re: AK suited first hand call 3 all ins?
I'm puzzled by the 2 callers of the all ins though.
I can understand limping in with AA, maybe limping with KK if you known someone is going to raise it behind you, but why would anyone limp in with QQ!!?? My money's on AA vs KK vs AK vs AK (if u called) The same scenario happened to me yesterday on a 20+2 on PP. I folded my AK, and someone else that called after me folded his QQ. It was AA vs KK and the last K hit on the turn to give him the win. With a re-raise all in and a caller after, I think folding QQ would have been the right move as well. |

Re: AK suited first hand call 3 all ins?
Turned out i was up against AA, 99 and AKo!! Thanks for the replies. I have played a good number of $10 SnG's and watched in horror after laying down QQ first hand to multi all ins turning out to be 99, 55, 77. Thought the standard of player would be a bit better at the 20's
