Well, sort of. I'll concede that much.

From reading this page, it seems that the OP is marginally correct, although still pretty misleading. While it does seem that the most important aspect of comprehension is the first and last letters, clearly the middle letters play a very significant role. For examples see about 3/4 of the way down the page (find "This is clearly wrong"). Also, the importance of the first and last letters is greatly diminished when we are talking about words in other languages, something that seems to speak against this being some sort of "this is how your brain functions!" issue, which is what the OP implies.
