Default Playing pairs in single table tourneys

I am never sure how to play a small/medium pair in a sit-n-go tourney. I'm calling 2-6 small and 7-10 medium.

I would think the strategy is different when there are 6-10 players and 2-5 players, but I'm not exactly sure if I should be limping in, raising, or what.

Any help would be appreciated since I'm pretty sure I'm missing out on lots of profit with these hands.

Default Re: Playing pairs in single table tourneys

Early on (first 3 or 4 rounds) I think of these as drawing hands. I will limp with them if I can get in for one bet, and the more the merrier. You don't say what limits you play at, but at low limits you're not going to be knocking anyone out with raises at this point anyways. If you flop a set go from there. Hopefully you can trap someone into paying you off. If i don't flop a set, I'm pretty much gone.

Later on, with the blinds higher and the field more limited, it becomes much more fluid and situation dependent just like everything else.
