Dealer Tips

There's been a whole lot on here lately regarding dealer tips. Enough is enough. As far as what dealers make I find it offencive that someone would ask. I've had people actually ask me, while dealing, how much a dealer makes. What would you do if your local dealer came to your job and asked what you make? Not that I or anyone else should be ashamed of what we make but why would any dealer in their right mind come on a public forum and announce what they make? There are a lot of dealers that frequent this forum. Ever wonder why nobody, that deals for a living, ever answers the question?

Card dealers are overpaid for the unnecessary service that they provide. Why should an unskilled employee at a casino be in the same income bracket of an auto mechanic.? Why should this same dealer be paid the same as an electrician, plumber, or teacher? Competent and adequate dealers require approximately the same level of intelligence as a cashier to be proficient at their occupation. The only “skill” that is required is the ability to handle a deck of playing cards Above that “skill” the only variable effecting dealer proficiency is attitude.

I believe that “professions” that are grouped in the same income bracket should be required to have approximately the same amount of intelligence, training, and education. Card dealers who happen to have an exceptionally good attitude, dealers who are good natured, and run a smooth game, deserve to be “toked” occasionally for their extra effort. The rest of the card dealers who merely possess the “skills” to handle a deck of cards and deal them deserve the minimum wage that they earn for the work they do.

There is no such thing as a mandatory tip. Ever. Those of you in the service industry who think that you deserve more because you don’t get paid enough by your employer can take a hike. If you expect a “toke” from Shawn P you better have been extraordinarily good at you job when I won a substantial pot, otherwise phuck off.

Those of you who appreciate the opportunity to make more of yourself, to make a better life for yourself and your family, who have the necessary “skill” and attitude to make it in this industry; I wish you the best and throw you a white chip. For the rest of the ungrateful bustards (mostly men in my experience) who hate their job and their lives, suck it up and don’t “rain on my parade” at the poker table.

I enjoy live poker. I enjoy live poker most when the dealer is acting in a professional manner, and not like a kid.

You're sad and a true stiff. I am guessing you are definatley a losing player too. Your approach to everything is wrong. If tokes are eating into your wallet that bad then you are simply not a winning player.
It has been my experience that the more liberal you are with your money, the easier it comes back around. When you don't toke the dealer, they notice and it begins to send out a bad "vibe" between the two. Maybe this adversly affects you. Maybe not. But I would rather have a dealer on my side and rooting for me to win because he will get paid as well.

You are obviously to stupid to understand this concept....

Its funny how all the dealers of the forum jump down someone's throat when you express an opinion on the matter. I should point out I do not agree with most of your post but I respect your view.

JFYI dealers, I have received 8 PM's supporting my view on tipping. It seems many players feel it has gone over the top.

You seem to forget dealers you are there for us and not the other way around.

I think your missing the whole point to my post. The point is, all the threads lately asking how much dealers make, stop asking. If you'd like to know that bad get in the box and deal yourself. Is that plain enough? If you want to voice your opinion about dealer tokes do it in another thread. There's nowhere in my post that says anything about the pro's or con's on dealer tipping. All it says is stop asking about it. Now go crawl under a rock and back to your miserable existance you cheap sorry piece of.. nevermind. Not worth it.
