Re: Who else would\'ve gone broke?
[ QUOTE ]
This play was typical of him recently. He'd limp and wait until people got in and then he'd raise or reraise the first chance he got. [/ QUOTE ] In which case you have to call. |

Re: Who else would\'ve gone broke?
[ QUOTE ]
Its hard to say without having been there and seen just how he was playing. His reraise is is essentially putting you all in, but without putting you all in, which screams even more strength. I'd like to think I fold. [/ QUOTE ] That's why I like posting on this board. Lots of different thought processes. (sp?) |

Re: Who else would\'ve gone broke?
It's hard to get away from QQ 6-handed. Against a player like you describe there is no chance.

Re: Who else would\'ve gone broke?
[ QUOTE ]
When somebody who has been "pushing their weight around" limps UTG, and then reraises a substantial raise, alarm bells should start ringing. [/ QUOTE ] I completely agree with DJshawk on this. Alarm bells should be ringing here all over the place. I guess guy had been playing this way, but in general this is scary. Sure Queens are a top 3 premium hand but it's a tourney and you have to pick the right spots. You're out of position and facing an essential all-in raise here (would you really fold the flop?). Sure feels like the limp huge re-raise is a monster waiting for a call...but I don't think pushing was necessarily a bad move and I understand he'd done similar moves earlier and showed some marginal hands so I can't fault your instincts - you just ran into a monster at a bad time. |

Re: Who else would\'ve gone broke?

I really felt like I made the right move but I always like to get feedback from the board. The UTG has been really pushing his weight around recently and had just knocked out two guys in 5 hands. Tell me what you think. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t800 (6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx MP (t8410) CO (t12690) Button (t1970) Hero (t12188) BB (t4745) UTG (t27497) Preflop: Hero is SB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. The only thing ahead of you is KK/AA. He may have limped w/ those hoping for a raise, but it's unlikely. This is so standard, it's almost as bad as a bad beat post. |
