Importing Windows MP Files Into iTunes

So... anybody know how I can do it? I have a bunch of MP files I'd like to import into iTunes, but I can't figure out how to do it. The "import" option under the "file" menu doesn't recognize the files.

what is the file extension?

It's a "Windows Media Audio" file. The extension is .asx
