Okay, AQ is a crappy hand.... I figure no AK because he checked the flop... so I'm good right? This guy had called a few people down with middle and low pair to accumulate his chips, so I *Thought* I *wanted* him to call... guess not.

Nothing wrong with your push after it was checked to you given that there was T1200 in the pot and you only had T2000. Any bet by you would have pretty much put you all-in anyways. You will get called by worse hands a lot by pushing there, so don't worry. And don't think you are "dumb" every time you get bad beat. And don't post every time you get a bad beat. And don't criticize "bad" players, because it makes them think there is actually skill involved in the game (one of Mike Caro's tips).

I would generally bet less on this flop, to encourage a weaker ace to play with me (or maybe even a total bluff). However it's nearly impossible to get away from this hand. My normal flop bet would be 700.

If there's a flush draw out there, I think allin is stronger than it was in the given hand. Most of these guys won't be able to resist moving allin on you with a flush draw if you make it 700 on the flop, and this isn't really a dream scenario for you.

However, without a flush draw out there, there are no hands that I'm beating that I want to go out of my way to push out of the pot, thus I find allin a bit excessive.

Was the player with AJ really that far off calling a $300 raise with $900 already in the pot and no fear of another raise behind him? We're 5-handed here - AJ can make a stand against a possible steal attempt - no?

I normally don't berate players for their play... That was towards the end of a string of beats to eliminate me from a few tourneys, and I lost my composure a bit. After that I said gg, nice call, and chatted with him a bit.

I'm not trying to post my bad beats; This was meant to see if I should have pushed on that flop or not. There were other options...

edit: subject should read "All in after flop... dumb?"

Curtains... You suggest betting the pot size...

My thought process at the time; rip me as you please with each segment of thought

Both limpers are weak... I'll raise and try to take it down right here.

one limper calls, not raises... Ok, wants to see a flop, doesn't have a huge hand, maybe 99, 88, smallish ace(AJ, A10, A9)

Flop comes and villain checks; He is weak, his underpair looks bad with two overcards... I'll try and make it look like I'm trying to re-steal it, and move all in.
