AT best ace dealt
What is the probability that AT is the best Ace that
are dealt when there are 1. 10 players 2. 9 players 3. 8 players 4. 7 players 5. 6 players ? It seems that AT offsuit is a hand that is probably not worth playing at all when there are many players. Probabilities of being the best hand and other thoughts about AT is appreciated. |

Re: AT best ace dealt
ATo isnt a bad hand shorthanded, but against 9 other players it becomes devalued....The probability of being outkicked with ATo against 9 other players is around 30%.

Re: AT best ace dealt
So you say that AT is the Ace with the best kicker 70% of the time? Thats not to bad.
The problem is that when an ace flops and an opponent have a worse kicker you will probably not get any action. But if you are outkicked you will get alot of it. Lets say its unraised with 5 players. You are on the button. Flop: A96 rainbow. SB bets and BB calls and the other folds. What do you do? And what is the plan for the turn if you continue? |

Re: AT best ace dealt
Yah, it is between 24-30% but the math is too much for my time right now....I would ALWAYS raise pf on the button with ATo in your situation....but if you dont i would make a small raise on the flop and try to check it to the river....if it gets too expensive or you are reraised, well, there is around a 24-30% chance that you are beat by an A...not to mention other non A hands that can beat u so you just fold...

Re: AT best ace dealt
It really depends on the situation, i may fold it too under certain situations, but usually on the button this is a great chance to take the pot uncontested. Really depends on the types of players in front of you an whether this is a cash or tourney game. I myself am more likely to just pass on it in a cash game when i have all the time in the world to wait for a premium hand, but in a tourney i would raise most of the time and pop the flop to take it down if called....that is the beauty of late position... Re: AT best ace dealt
I am talking about cash games and playing 4 tables at the same time.

Re: AT best ace dealt
Then i would fold too...especially if playing 4 tables at once. Its gonna be too hard to make so many marginal decisions with these hands and so many tables going.

Re: AT best ace dealt
Anyone care to make some calculations?
I would really appreciate it. Especially for 10 and 6 players. |
