I like your play here. I would have done the same thing.

why bet the flop with second pair out of position?

Does anyone else do this? Perhaps i might try it at a later stage in the game (bigger blinds) and with say 2-3 players but not 5.

I'd certainly limp in with TT. Now that you have 5 opponents though I wouldn't try to get cute unless I hit the flop with an overpair or set. On the flop you are against 5 players with one overcard, a possible st8 and flush draw. Chances are you will get called here and not know where you are at. Also, the pot is relatively small so there is no need to get involved here.

Didn't notice you had so many people in the pot. With 3 or less I like a bet but 5 is too many. Check instead I now say.

Hmm, I'm pretty new to SNG's. I usually play NL ring games. With that in mind...

I think you either have to raise this preflop, in which case betting the flop makes sense. In all honesty I'm not sure at all how much merit raising this hand has here???

Or you can call preflop and play for set value (or overpair value, in which case you still have to be careful because most flops where you have an overpair, the flop will be fairly coordinated). With this many opponents still in the hand. I don't think I'd bet that flop.

Raiser, per your comments, you're new here. Generally speaking most people on this forum play a party or skin STT. And many of them play the lower limits $33 tables down. If you're familiar with these sites, or you're currently playing them, you'd know that the starting chip stacks are tight - 800 chips.

It's sort of a general concensus that in early play, especially level 1 & 2, you're only playing middle pairs on down for set value. Otherwise, it's a leak.

But, feel free to disagree. I'm always up for a thought provoking debate.

But your skills from your previous game have given you good instincts. I think that is good advice in SNG play as well.

verrry easy call preflop, and you can raise if you'd like. Thats a matter of personal choice.

On the flop I wouldn't bet, there are too many opponents for me to take a stab with an overcard and flush/straight draws out there.

Limping is a good play, but how about a min raise? this may confuse opponents into thinking you may playing a stronger hand, especially in level one, also it cuts back on the number of limpers. This early in the STT it’s difficult to say, but you may want to avoid a limp-fest.
