Default UK Government Backs down on Super Casinos

Looks like there are only going to be 8 now.

CULTURE Secretary Tessa Jowell has cut back the Gambling Bill to allow just eight super-casinos following protests, it emerged last night.
She bowed to anti-gambling campaigners and told MPs she would study whether casinos increase the number of betting addicts.

It was originally predicted around 40 would be set up.

More will be allowed only if they have a positive effect in regenerating rundown areas.

Shadow culture secretary John Whittingdale said: “If the Government had been willing to listen earlier then the current shambles might have been avoided.”
