Default Checking when the scare card hits -- weak tight or smart poker?

$100NL PP. Full Ring. Effective stacks $100.

Hero is UTG+1 with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Hero raises to $5, is called by MP, Button, SB. Flop:

Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Hero bets $20. MP folds, Button folds, SB calls. Turn:

7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

SB checks. Hero checks. River:

3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

SB bets $30 (Pot is $55). Hero thinks for max time and calls.

what's up with the double Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]?

preflop is very marginal in full ring I reckon.

flop good

On the turn, I half pot if I don't have a spade in my hand, folding to a raise, and check behind if I do have a spade

If you check behind and he leads a brick river, I lean towards calling.

ahhh. you're right. flop must have been the queen of clubs, 5 of spades. I had the Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Dont like the preflop play if its your standard line with this hand. flop and turn good i guess. River is tough, what do you beat but a bluff?

Well, it is my standard pre-flop play and AQ is one of my most profitable hands, so I think it's okay.

I like it, gets bets from worse hands, loses the minimum to better hands. You have half a draw on the turn as well.

If the Queen on the board was a club and not a spade, then where is the "Scare" card you were referring to?
