Default I want to add more RAM-- can i mix SDRAM with RDRAM?

hello fellow posters,

I want to add more RAM to my system, except the type of RAM my computer has now is very expensive (RDRAM).

I have a Dell 8200 desktop with a 1.8mhz processor.

It came with 256 and i beefed it up to 767mb. It is RDRAM and had to be in equal pairs (thus i have two 128mb and two 256mb).

Is it possible to add DDR SDRAM to my system as it is approx 1/8th the price?

Thanks for any advice,
Sean

ps.

I think i have 2 open memory slots but if not i thought i could replace my two smallest sticks (2 X 128mbRDRAM) with 2 new ones (2 X 512mb DDR SDRAM).......but obviously only if i can mix the different types like this.

Sorry, but the answer is no, there's nothing you can do but to buy RDRAM (besides getting a new motherboard and such).

Intel tried making a board in the past that supported both RDRAM and SDRAM.... thankfully, they dont make that board anymore.
