Default Introducing The Fourth P of Poker...

Civilizations around the world past, present, and probably in the future, all have what is called the right of passage. Because the right of passage is so common, some poker players maybe all, believe it is an unwritten guarantee to the winners circle. What are we talking about here fellow poster's and lurker's. Well lets start at the top and work our way down. The marvelous, the exciting, the most powerful two card starting hand in all of poker POCKET ACES. Who amongst us has not received this gift from the poker god and thought, YES, finally a winner! (THE RIGHT OF PASSAGE) Only to have our hopes, our dreams, our stacks crumble in agonizing defeat by some piece of cheese. Have we not all been in this despicable position? Of course we have, some say it's just the cards breaking even. Well you know what they can do with their breaking even concept at the moment of defeat. Haywood Jablowme says it best but he has a poor vocabulary so will skip his comments.

Lord Acton said; "power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely." The four P's of poker, Patience, Power, Position, and Politeness are the governing principles we should all try to remember. But, that right of passages says; "A MAN IS ENDOWED WITH CERTAIN INALIENABLE RIGHTS, WHEN I GOT THE NUTS ON THE FLOP OR ON THE TURN I HAVE A RIGHT TO EXPECT A WINNER." (THE RIGHT OF PASSAGE) Could this be the beginning of fuzzy thinking?

You see it everyday in poker, the man with the power losing to the clueless common action junkie. They say men don't cry. However, in poker, if at first you don't succeed, cry, cry again. It is common to see grown men cry at the poker table. But the story isn't fully told until you see what happens on the other side of POCKET ACES.

The cards are dealt and Johnny Ray takes a peek at his cards. He sees Q-6 double suited from early position. Being a student of the SPM, he knows double suited means more opportunities to hit two kinds of flushes, it's called OPTIMISTIC POKER. He calls the raise with reckless abandon. The flop comes Johnny's way, top two pair. He's got the field crushed. But wait, out of no where comes Runner Runner Man who wins with the nut four card flush with the duce, of the correct suit. He's what we call a closer. Now it's Johnny's turn to cry. Some of you old boys will remember Johnny Ray, you youngsters will not.

The right of passage does not apply in poker, we are sorry to report. Starting with the best hand, flopping the best hand, or turning the best hand, makes no never mind, to whims of the poker god. It's the mighty river that decides the out come, in poker. You must learn to swim to shore, before you drown. As Abraham Lincoln said; "nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."
