Default x post but i need help, new inspiron 9300

just got a new inspiron 9300 today. installed party/euro. Login screen doesn't look right, not even a spot to put password. Once i bypass that and get to where i would select my tables, there is a surrounding border on the right and bottom that is serving no purpose but taking up space. any suggestions?
