Re: Guts cahllenge
We play 3 card guts with no straights or flushes. A 'widow' hand is dealt, and if only one player stays in then he must beat the widow to take the pot. We also have a pre-dertmined max match on all 'match-the-pot' games (usually $20). The pots still grow pretty large, but all anyone is ever on the line for on any hand is $20. This encourages action and prevents any one from losing their shirt and/or friends. Oh yeah, and after some allegations of people hanging on to their cards a little to long on the 'declare' we have gone to a 'coin in the hand' if you're in.

My experience is that it's a fun game until you get to the point where someone can't afford to match the pot. Same with acey deucy. It's all fun when the pot is small. I've seen some friendships really get tested and some end because of this game. Be careful playing it. b [/ QUOTE ] People who don't understand that you don't make bets you can't cover shouldn't be playing poker. |

Understand, this starts out as a 'friendly' game. Friends will let friends off on paying which tends to piss other friends off who've paid. The people who play this type of game are not hardened gamblers that think of the ramification of a bet. Especially when 'friends' are involved. b |
