Default Mohegan Sun closing poker room

I read on RGP that the Mohegan Sun is closing its poker room after Labor Day (and replacing it with a high stakes slot lounge). Being skeptical of anything I read on the internet, I called the Mohegan to ask if it was true, and they confirmed it.

Any predictions on the impact this will have on Foxwoods and how Foxwoods will react?

Obviously it will bring more players to Foxwoods (which is good since that is where I play), but I don't think Foxwoods having a monopoly on poker in the area is a good thing.

Wow, that's news... I hope FW doesn't do the same.

I can't say I'm surprised, I thought this was coming for a while. I have a feeling that a bunch of the floor staff getting fired a couple of weeks ago was the last straw.

It'll be nice to have more players at Foxwoods. I hope the lack of competition doesn't end up making things worse though. The Foxwoods poker room has been a zoo for the last few months as it was, hopefully they'll expand and become the biggest room in the country.

I think there's virtually no chance of that happening. The poker room at Foxwoods is really thriving these days, bringing lots of customers to the casino. The place is jam packed with people wanting to play satellites to get into the WPT event.

This is sad news, but as JTG said, it is not suprising. The staff at Mohegan (except for the dealers) does a terrible job. I just hope that Foxwoods expands to handle the overflow, or it is gonna be a very crowded room.

Mohegan was one of the worst-run poker rooms on the planet. You would think you were sitting there, waiting for your name to be called for the 20/40, and after an hour, you'd go check on the status, but your name's not on the list.

The games were pretty damned good, though.

Seeing as I'm not a huge fan of Foxwoods, I'm hoping they'll step it up a little bit. Who knows, maybe they'll even spread a regular $30/60 holdem game. To go with the 75/150 stud table.

OK. I know. That's a zany idea.

Foxwoods has been trying to spread a 40/80 hold'em game for the last few weeks. From what I've seen, it's almost always going on weekends and sometimes on weeknights. The room is getting busier and busier so I imagine that will become a regular game, especially when some of the higher limit players from Mohegan switch over.

I don't want to believe it. I'm calling too... will edit when i'm off hold.

Edit: They are... Blugh. I hate the extra 30 mins to Foxwoods, and don't particularly like the room.

The Borgata has all their rules and procedures in a nice pamphlet at the front desk, maybe I'll make more trips to Jersey.
