Could be worse. You could live here in Miami where state law says the big bet is $2 max.

Good theory. However, I don't play $2-4 because I don't have the money to move up.

Also "high limit" at my casino is $6-12. They have a board for $10-20, but I've only seen it run once.

I have this same problem. Ever notice that a lot of people think a check-raise is when you check on one round and then raise on the next? Drives me nuts.

The "strategy" discussions are even worse. Overhearing some table coach spewing out rediculous advice gets old REAL fast. I usually keep quiet but I really just want to smack him.

The last time I played live, these two serious players had the whole table convinced that if more than 6 players have already limped in and you're on the button, it's correct to play any two cards. Another guys says "Yeah you'd have to. The pot odds are just too good." I couldn't hold back the laughter on that one. I didn't explain why though.

I'd like to move up, but all they ever spread is 4/8. Sometimes on weekends they'll have 10/20 but I don't have the frickin roll for that.

Two things:

1) I think that it is perfectly acceptable to use the phrase "coming over the top" to describe, say, a three-bet on the turn in limit hold'em.

2) You are a nit.

I think it sounds stupid in any context.

Also, I only discuss joke/bizarro poker strategy at the table anymore.
