I got a virus....help

I found some instructions to delete it. Apparently it hides in system restore. The first instruction is to turn off system restore. When i do this it tells me i will lose all of my past restore points.

I am just worried that if it doesnt work, i will find some other set of solutions that uses system restore.

Should i go ahead and follow the instructions thus deleting all my system restore points?

I was just worried about the loss of all my restore points.
I ended up getting bored and just going ahead with it. Looks like it is completely gone now.
