I would fold preflop. You are in a strong position, and can afford to pick your spots. No need to get involved here.

The call preflop is really bad. You're out of position, that's a nice raise, and it's a big pot with little implied odds.

I think that's where you screwed up the most. On the flop, you can either push, or check-push, depending on reads. I prefer pushing because who knows what donks do...

[/ QUOTE ] Why are these the only two options. I would like to bet here, but why discourage the opponent with such a large bet when his odds of sucking you out with a pair aren't very large.

Because there's no way you're getting away from a raise here, and turns can make the hand pretty tricky. I want overs to get priced out.

The push is barely 2x pot. Villain has so little behind.

I don't want to give implied odds or anything to overs. This pot is worth taking down right now.

I hate the preflop call as well. Don't do stuff like this and you can avoid alot of tricky decisions later.

Your preflop call here is terrible- you really have to fold this garbage. Did you have a plan when you made this call? Did you put your opponent on a hand or did you just see an ace with sooooted card and thought it looked really nice and decided to call. You are out of position with a marginal hand and an opponent who raised 3.5BBs. What do you think you're ahead of right now? A7sooooted? You do realize that even after catching TPTK on the flop you are behind 99+, right? So now your thinking is that you want to milk this hand for all you thinhk it's worth? Do you know why that is terrible? Hopefully you see the inherent problem of playing this kind of crap- You hit your 8 and you are possibly behind a PP and could quickly be dominated if an over hits. And if you hit your ace do think it is within the realm of possibilty he has a better kicker than you? The best advice you have been given is to fold this, the second best advice is to push the flop.
