AA laydown question

Okay, here's a hand that I played today. Is this a routine fold? The fact that even though I showed strength on all streets, and when the 3rd heart hits, Bob raises, is what made me fold.

Bob is at seat 0 with $4.50.
Chaos_ult is at seat 1 with $10.
steve is at seat 2 with $32.95.
Mick is at seat 3 with $32.95.
Jon is at seat 4 with $29.80.
doug is at seat 5 with $16.65.
The button is at seat 2.

Mick1956 posts the small blind of $.25.
Acadian posts the big blind of $.50.
Chaos_ult posts out of turn for $.50.

I wouldn't fold heads-up for one more bet on the river. I would have checked / called the river...

This was a solid player that I had not seen in too many hands. The fact that I had figured him on a flush draw before the 3rd heart fell just made my choice that much easier. Why pay him off if I know he has the flush? I know the pot justifies the call, but I couldn't bring myself to it.

Easy call.

He is a solid player but also: he is all-in. A really solid player is never all-in. He refill before he is in danger of going all-in.

And also: when someone is all-in they do a lot of desperate things, like raising river hoping you had nothing against their middle pair.

And also: If you are lucky he has been slowplaying something like a set or 2-pair, thinking: "Well, I have to bet rest of my $ on this, better wait untill late with showing my strength."

And also: If he really is a solid player, then raising when that flushcard hits against a player capable of folding (you) is a very solid play.

Trust me: if you never ever fold topset headsup on river when someone raises you (even if its 4flush), you will - over a lifetime - not lose much. But if you start to be to sure about why the other one is raising on river ("Oh No!, that scary card must be his!") - specially against all-in players - you can start to lose a lot.

I have no other way to describe this fold. You have to win in this spot 1 out of 9 to have a +EV here. You only lose to a flush, how could you fold here.

If you know he has the flush, your fold was correct, and there is no lesson to be learned. Good play.

ill give ya credit for the read, though with fewer chips (opponent) i may be much more likely to call this. many times theyll wait and go all in with lots of hands trying to maximize their all in.

and dont show your aces when you fold. hooray, you can lay down a set. you're only giving away information that they should be paying for. they put you on a range of hands, but you now helped them define it to one. not to mention, you just showed them a path to a bluff that can be used against you.

i used to do this, and it really servers no purpose at all. the benefits of not showing FAR outweigh the benefit of showing. it was a tough habit to break, but pokerbabe helped cure me of it.

ESPECIALLY on successful bluffs. this is one point i really disagree with caro on.
