I felt bad about this fold, but wasn't sure what else to do. I didn't want to call and then have to fold to an overcard on the flop. Maybe I should have called and bet out the flop if only one overcard came, then check/folded to a raise or call.
It would have been a big mistake to push, right?

Folding is very weak, you have position on the raiser with a very strong hand and you own his $11 range. Just call and see a flop.

Problem with just calling here is he still has 3 more limpers to act behind.. and pumping up the pot with a call might cause more people to call or even push.

I would fold that I think. 50 and I call but 100 is a little steep for JJ when the blinds are still in rd 1.

It would be stupid (but still possible) for the SB to be doing this with any two cards just to pick up blinds and limp bets so early in the tourney. My feeling is you're either dominated by a bigger pair or a coin-flip against two bigger cards. I lean towards seeing the flop and proceeding with caution if overcards come. If you have an overpair to the flop, you may have the best hand. If he checks to you, bet half the pot, and if he then checkraises, fold and wait for a better spot. If he bets out half the pot or so, try a raise, and if he reraises, fold. You will still have chips to play with.

i made the same play the other day. obviously, most of the time, you don't want to lay down JJ pre-flop, but i do feel that certain situations call for it. i think this is one of those, although you could make an argument to raise here too.

calling is by far the worst option, imo. if you call, you're likely seeing a multi-way flop against one or several over cards. when blinds are 10-15, this is something you want to avoid with pairs unless you get into the pot cheaply. you can no longer do that here.

on the other hand a raise would likely isolate the initial raiser at least, making the hand a bit more playable. interestingly, i don't think i'd push here if i did choose to raise. i'd probably bump it to about 300 and see how the action went. assuming 1 call from the initial raiser, i'd fold to a bet on an flop with any overcards and push if he checked.

to quote lorinda 3:16, do you need to win this pot? you have 15 chips invested and it's level one, so i think the answer is no. so personally, i'd just fold and move on to the next hand.

Because this is the first hand, and ONLY because it is the first hand, I might push. The reason being, for some reason, I can't count the number of times I've seen 66, A4 or K10 call an all-in on the first hand of an $11.

i think i'd either raise it up to 300 to try and get the pot heads-up, or just move all-in to take it. If no overcard comes on the flop, then I'd move all in. If one overcard comes and I'm bet into, I think you either fold move all-in, though i'm not sure which. If he checks an overcard on the flop, I prob check behind him. It is early, but the rounds go quickly so when I get JJ I try to do something with it. let me know if my thinking is off.

I'm in the folding camp. There's only $15 invested and still some limpers to go. You are 50-50 with the raiser, (having the overpair and bluff cancel each other) The problem with this is it is at least 12.5% of your stack, and probably more that you're risking on one hand. On the flip-side there's not much time invested so U can do the all-in and go to the next tournament if u lose.

I also agree that calling is the worst option. WIth multiple players your chances of winning plummet. U need to be heads up or out.
