I think that history shows that the country does best in terms of jobs, growth, civil liberties, etc., when one party is in the White House and the other controls Congress. Doesn't matter which is which. Some say this is because they compromise to find the best parts of both sides. I am cynical and believe that it is because they are too busy fighting with each other to get anything done, which is to the benefit of the country.
