Re: WANNA GO PRO, here\'s what you GOTTA know!
I think your posts are godly.
Where might one find more of this kind of stuff? Dont worry about the haters, most of those guys are on downswings. |

Possible siting.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I was at the same table as Adam at St. Croix casino in Turtle Lake WI a couple months ago. Quite the character... And he isn't making a gimmick account. He is this way for real... [/ QUOTE ] Is Adam a little overweight, bad teeth, and has a little BO problem. Because if he does then I played in a game at Canterbury a few months back. From the first hand, he had a comment on every player and what they did not know. Has to be the same guy. |

Re: WANNA GO PRO, here\'s what you GOTTA know!
Everything in moderation. Many n00b posters aren't friends with Paragraphs. Sleeping with your return key (as ATE does) is a similar sin. Good communication lies somewhere between not enough and too many carriage returns.
While I'm here: ATE obviously intended this message for new players and readers. Although he seems to have posted with good intentions, I think the style of the post is out of place with the common material that one can find here. For example, ATE's issue with the 300 BB rule. I see many people (on many forums) see rules like "you should have 300BB" and take that as the gospel; as some sort of absolute truth. The reality is, there's a lot more information available! It's not like the general 2+2 readership is saying "save up 300BB and then jump in!". "300 BB" is the guideline because it's easy to say and remember. In the dozens of threads here that talk about going pro (DAFS), some of the other issues that ATE brings up are mentioned, too: have six months of living expenses saved up, those expenses should include medical insurance, be ready to go down in limits if all you have is 300BB, and make sure you're a winning player before you jump in. And there's lots of additional, situation-dependent caveats that 2+2 posters have put in the other threads here. Stuff like, if you're single and willing to work a cheap day job, "we" (the general readership) approve (not that you need our approval, but it passes the peer-review process) of you taking a shot (but be aware of the risks). And, if you have a good day job, then keep the day job until you have enough set aside and have established yourself as a winner. And, if you have a wife and kids, we aware that the poker boom is not guaranteed, and your income could drop substantially if something should happen to the poker market (like bad legislation). So, for those of you that have found ADAMtheEXPERT's advice useful: you'll find a lot of good information elsewhere in these forums. Do a search and you'll find it. |

Re: WANNA GO PRO, here\'s what you GOTTA know!
Is this the famous ATE that used to post on the cardplayer forums awhile back? The one who is a big hotshot "pro" but needs to be backed?

Re: WANNA GO PRO, here\'s what you GOTTA know!
Good point on the roomate thing. I find it funny that he could have easily gotten all of his ideas from all of those @@#%#Q@@$^% books.
But just like any business, as a pro, grinder, or anyone looking to make a profit, ought to see poker, it is hard, but that is the same reason "staticians" say 75% of all businesses fail in the first year, somehow I believe it is mroe than that. Of coarse he didn't mention any good sides to this, and besides if he is such a pro. why isn't he in the WSOP right now? |

To make a long story short ... would have been a good idea. That said, ATE is correct. Good advice.
