Nice...wouldn't have thought of that, but that's definitely high on the list.

Re: Best Scene of all Time
Sidenote: I would submit the shower scene in Psycho as the most overrated scene in a movie....just not that scary imo..

Re: Best Scene of all Time
[ QUOTE ]
Man, this is a no brainer... The opening scene in SuperTroopers is by far the funniest scene that I've ever seen in any movie. I love it!!!! classic classic classic [/ QUOTE ] This is one of the few submissions I like so far. I have no clue what the best scene ever is 'cause there are so many great ones and I have no clue how to seed them, but I do know what scenes are NOT the best ever: anything from The Usual Suspects, Deep Blue Sea, or The Sixth Sense. I'm guessing montages shouldn't count? For dramas, the final scene from Touch of Evil comes to mind. Also, I am Spartacus. For romance, the scene in Amelie where she opens the door to chase after the guy and he's right there and without saying a word she pulls him in and does the three kisses thing. That's all I got right now. I = tired. GoT |

Re: Best Scene of all Time
It's not scary because everyone knows about it before seeing the movie. Hitchcock's technique is what makes this scene so special.
Plus the fact that he killed off his heroine half an hour into the movie. Will |

Re: Best Scene of all Time
[ QUOTE ]
Comedy: "How much for the ribs?" I'm Gonna Get You, Sucka! Westerns: Tough one. I'll go with the big shoot out at the end of The Wild Bunch Action: Another tough one. I'll go with the test (kill the VIP) scene form La Femme Nakita (the French one) Romance: Final scene of Breakfase at Tiffany's [/ QUOTE ] My (of the top of my head) suggestions above. |

Re: Best Scene of all Time
There's one more that I refrained from mentioning because it's a bit obscure...but you would definitely know this one...it's the scene in Ran about half way through the movie when Hidetora's castle is under attack and the movie goes silent except for the music for ten minutes ofutter carnage.
THAT was a good scene. I'm pretty sure it inspired Spielberg in the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan. Will |
