Indeed. And more than just one.

I recently purchased some new glasses - and the gal selling them noted that I was 'over 50' and asked if I belonged to AARP. I said no, but she gave me the AARP discount anyway. She felt sorry for me because I had to wait a few days for my glasses, as they had to order special blanks to grind my new lenses (extra thick progressives, stigmatism in one eye etc). Being 'old' felt good, for a moment anyway.

So what's the action for this over 50 Forum? I am tired of wading through posts and don't have the time on my downhill slide through the latter days of a misused life to put up with the young buck swagger and deluge of drivel that is more and more the norm of the 2+2 forums. Do I send a copy of my birth certificate or passport to Mason?

Joe, I never thought you be for Ebonics.

I meant age-discrimination, disgusting.

Joe,

I knew you meant age discrimination, and no other sort of discrimination entered my mind. I was trying to have fun with the missing "would" in your post, and I hoped the smiley face would make that evident. I didn't mean to imply anything else. In fact, as an English teacher and student of language, I may be one of the few people here who sees Ebonics as a language with rules and a grammar. Sorry that you misunderstood.

I read somewhere that the "I be, you be" construction originated in Southwestern England, where many settlers of tidewater Virginia originated in the 17th century. I just assumed Joe was a time traveler from that time and place.

Yes - but the game was way too tough -- all those 20 cent checkraises.
I had to go back to Party 3 - 6.
