Good Vodka, but it is made in France. During the period leading up to the Gulf War, I boycotted all French goods, switched to Stoli, and never went back. Re: Vodka I\'ve Been Enjoying
I'll offer a few vodka comments. A couple of friends of mine and I did a blind vodka tasting of four premium vodkas, with the following rankings:
1. Vox An awesome vodka. More alcoholic than the others (by which I mean a rougher taste with more heat). But it is also smooth enough to drink in a martini or on the rocks. Has some interesting flavor working. Almost a spiciness. Delicious stuff. The best vodka we tried mixed as well. Takes cranberry and other strong mixers well without simply dissolving in the juice. 2. Grey Goose A little bit smoother. Was actually my personal winner though not the concensus winner. Probably better in "pure vodka" type drinks, but doesn't have the more complex, heated flavor of Vox and hences doesn't make as interesting a mixed drink. 3. Belvedere Tastes so pure it's almost boring. On the rocks tasted basically like weak sugar water with a hint of alcohol. I figured this would probably be the best in a high-alcohol drink intended for someone who doesn't like very powerful drinks, like an apple martini or a cosmpolitan. 4. Vincent Van Gogh A very poor vodka in my opinion. Basically a luxury vodka knock-off that is neither as interesting as Vox nor nearly as smooth as Goose or Belvedere (or Vox, for that matter). No good reason to buy this in my opinion. I also really like Ketel One and Level. Ciroc is very interesting but, being a grape vodka, is really quite sweet and fruity. Interesting on the rocks with a little lime. |

1. Vox [/ QUOTE ] Still my favorite, and I've had probably 40-50 different vodkas. |

Neat and chilled. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, a friend of mine bought some of that stuff a while ago. It was expensive, IIRC. It was pretty smooth, too. I remember I took 2 shots in a row without a chaser. Good stuff. |
