And these announcers are idiots, even if USC does touch it, the ball is not dead. They have to retain possesion.

For a ball to actually be "downed" on a punt, the punting team has to stop the ball, once the ball has been stopped, it is then dead, and the play over.

If USC had touched the ball, the ball is still live. The fumble would have been good either way. Its annoying the announcers wont shut up about it. Oh Well, go usc.

Yup. When a team punts and is the first to touch the ball, it is technically an illegal touch, and the receiving team always has the option of taking possession at the place of the touch.
