Default Re: Pocket Tens, rags on the flop, do I call an allin?

[ QUOTE ]
I am interested to know more if TT is a consistently successful raise PF? Personally, I have never analyzed it.

I have no analysis either. With 3 limpers ahead of you though, I would agree that your call is likely best. A small raise won't get the limpers to fold and will just create a big pot. A big raise seems unnecessary. If you are called, you are in no man's land.

I saw one suggestion like..."this might be time for a big raise (150) to try and get all that limper money." That's fine, but you don't need TT to do that. 72o works just as well.

Let's say there was only 1 caller, would you have still called?

With 1 limper, I would raise to 90. Your position is good. A raise might buy the button and get a lot of overcards to fold (ie Kx, Ax, etc). Your TT is likely the best hand, so don't be afraid to isolate against 1 or 2 players.

I like playing TT and below for sets. You lose less when overcards hit and win more when the set hits. If no overcards come, you still have a good chance to win and your hand is well disguised. That is, at a full ring game. Obviously, when the blinds get bigger and players start to dwindle, you have to raise with it.

72o requires everyone to fold.I like having a playable hand for the cases where I get one caller. The other reason I like raising is because if I don't, I have just made it even better for someone behind me to do that same move and now I have no way of knowing if they have a a real hand or 72o.

I am sure playing medium pairs (TT-QQ where you can expect to see overs ~half the time) strictly for set value is safe, I am not sure if you are maximizing your value though. I still can't see folding to an all in from the BB in this case though on an undercard flop.

i havent read other posts yet but for me it is definitely a winning play to call here. many times i see two high crads or a small/medium pocket pair here. of course it could be a sample size issue but in the games i have played in i think a call here is warranted.
