[/ QUOTE ] Yes, Silence of the Lambs also swept the "Top Five," that is: Picture, Actor, Actress, Director, Screenplay. The first and only other was It Happened One Night in 1934.

The movie's pretty good, but the book is much better. Read it. The schizophrenic Indian who is a pretty minor character in the movie is the narrator in the book. The story is interspersed with his hallucinations and delusions.

The book was much, much better than the movie (which I found to be very disappointing).
Another poster mentioned "Sometimes a Great Notion", too, and that book is also excellent. It might very well be as "Cuckoo's Nest", imo.

"Sailor Song", another Kesey book, has a passage that I consider the funniest I've ever read anywhere. That dude is a writer extraordinaire. Also, don't miss "Acid Test", though it probably loses something without a little Sunshine to accompany it. Then you could branch out to "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".
