So you are saying raise the flop, then if he 3 bets fold the turn UI?

All postflop plans suck. But I think raising flop and calling down, folding to a bet spade sucks least.

I might 3-bet pf because I posted so I could get it heads up. Raise flop.

really? you're gonna have to explain this to me. you're 3-betting against an unknown at an unknown table just because you can get it HU against an EP raiser? please explain.

what do you think EP raiser has and what are you basing it on?

OK, I hear what you are saying, but if we are going to call down anyway, what is the point of raising the flop? We just get 3 bet when we are behind, and the guy backs off when we are ahead. If we just call, we might get him to bluff the turn, and then if he checks the river value bet. I would like to also hear what some old timers have to say on this one...

I'm getting a discount to 3-bet into a bigger pot.

Villain could conceivably play very strong at us with a strong spade when we currently have the best hand. Even if we do have the best hand, we will get outdrawn a bunch of the time. I dunno, maybe his possible hand strength takes dominance here.

grunching...
I would raise. The flush could scare him too. You could also get to see the river for cheap if you want.
If he re--raises, I would release probably.

hmm..yeah, i still don't get it. did you learn this somewhere? it seems it is because you are getting a discount that you're in the hand, not that that discount should be reasoned for a raise. because if you hadn't posted, i'd hope you'd fold. would you 3-bet an unknown EP if you hadn't posted? i don't see how this is any different.

Let's do a number crunch. I've never seen how to formally do one either. If someone could show a good one, that would be really cool.

my default line tends to be calling the flop bet and raising a safe turn plus folding if bet into by a [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I also tend to sit back a bit when I just get in on a table and feel out how aggressive my opponents are.
