If most of your previous experience is in limit, than why not play limit SNG's, or did I misunderstand your original post?

because limit sngs are not played by very many people, and you can have a much larger overlay in a NL sng because of blind stealing and effective stack throwing.

No you're right; naturally I should be better at limit. My limit game isn't that great compared to the regular 2+2 micro limit posters. On the other hand I haven't even tried a limit sng.

With the nl sngs, I have a general strategy from reading posts from RGP and here and have put it into my natural game. There's a lot to it, but I won't bore you with the details.

sngs are the best way to make a living playing poker on the internet today. there are more fish that play and there is less published strategy available.

Good point; never thought about that. Definitely more exploitable fish than in limit, where you actually have to wait for a hand before they go broke and leave.

OK. Please flame me to a crispy finish if what I'm suggesting is stupid. It worked for me, coming from a limit ring background, but it may have just been a fluke. I made the transition from limit ring to NL SNG's and got absolutely pasted because I didn't understand...

a) what you mentioned: blind stealing and effective stack throwing
b) tournament play in general: bubble play and such

I dropped back to limit SNG's, played them for a while, and then went to NL with a much better understanding of how to play an SNG.

On the plus side, PokerTracker becomes much more useful for gauging opponents.

EDIT: ...but then again, I REALLY sucked at NL. I seriously doubt anyone else is as bad as I was.

I'm only suggesting limit SNG's as a temporary transition for educational purposes only. Not even I would suggest something so ridiculous as attempting to play limit SNG's for profit.
