Look at where Carroll has taken the Trojan program over the past few years, in terms of player development, defensive strategy, team motivation (and off-the-field behavior), and the basic technical stuff like clock management, offensive balance, simple play-calling, and consistent effort even in potentially meaningless situations. He may have been mediocre in the NFL, but I can't think of a better coach in the NCAA right now. EDIT: I should also say that even though I live in L.A., I'm not nor have I ever been a USC fan -- I'm a Georgia Bulldog; I just think objectively Carroll is the shiznit.
