Default Re: How do people play in B&M casinos??

There are a lot of very good reasons mentioned here already, but I'm just going to add that I like playing in some live casinos because the waitresses are really cute and I get to flirt a lot with them between hands.

Actually I dated a couple of very cute ones..now how do I go about adding to my EV? Surely there must be a way.

The best reason is there is more money that can be made. 3-6 and 5-10 live has been easier by far than 1-2 or 2-4 online for me. So even with rakes and tips, its way more profitable. Mostly because the competition is weaker, but almost as importantly for me is the ability to read people. Within 30-45 minutes I generally have a pretty good read on everyone at the table and that only gets better as time goes on because the player turnover is a fraction of what it is online.

The turnover rate in online games is enough to make anyone go absolutely nuts! Every now and then you'll get the same players for an hour or more, but the majority of the time it’s a new person at least every orbit; unfortunately they’re not leaving because they were busted out. They’re just moving and taking their money with them. A large part of poker is being able to know your players. That is very difficult online.
That combined with the other distractions I have when I’m in front of my computer as well as the social aspects I enjoy make the brick and mortar room my choice.

Thanks for the replies. I can see that there are some definite bonuses (few of which applied to my experience at the hard rock in hollywood) but I will definately be making a trip to Vegas in '05 and will be playing some higher stakes games and in some of the nicer casinos.

I mostly went just to get used to playing live a bit.

I used to think so, but I have more fun now when I click the "cash out" button.

Different strokes. I only play because it's fun. If it isn't fun it isn't worth doing in my opinion. And B&M is a whole lot more fun than online.

Default im with you mario...

by the way, you forgot the inconvience of driving to the closest b&m. i would much rather be able to play 3 lower stakes tables at once and not be bored than play 1 table that is going really slow, with obnoxious people, bad dealers and absurd rake. in cali i have to pay 3 bucks in rake from the button every orbit playing 2/4, ive pretty much decided its not worth it.
