Re: poker movies other than Rounders
[ QUOTE ]
2) The Sting (1973). When you play a cheater, be sure you cheat better than he does. Paul Newman out-hustles Robert Shaw during a train-board poker game. Newman's boozy, needling performance -- and the shocked expression on Shaw's underling's face when he realizes they've been out-cheated -- reveal a glimpse of how below the polite veneer, poker is usually taken very seriously [/ QUOTE ] My all time, bar none, favorite poker scene, I watch it every time the movie shows up. There is also a very funny poker scene in an early "Friends" episode, in which the guys are trying to teach the girls poker. At one point, playing draw, Ross asks Phoebe if she wants any cards. "Yes," she says "the four of clubs and the ten of diamonds." As the guys moan and groan, Rachael responds "Oh, I've got the ten." Ross tells her she can't do that, and she replies "It's OK, I'm going for eights." Cracks me up. Sometimes I'm pretty easy, though. Doug |

Re: poker movies other than Rounders
The Color of Money isn't about poker, but it has similar themes, and is head and shoulders above crap like Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels.

Don't forget "Maverick," starring Mel "Passion of the Jebus" Gibson.
Some ridiculous poker content in that one. |

Re: poker movies other than Rounders
I've heard a lot about "Shade". They say it's a grand movie about poker. Frankly speaking, I have not seen it yet. But I hope I'll manage to do it soon. I hope, my friends were right about the film. Best regards, Annie
