I don't understand why anyone would think something was "wrong" here.

This forum is for "Discussions of Internet gambling venues, " which is found in the "General Gambling" Section.

Ok. Do Internet gambling venues get discussed here? Yes, and it seems to be done very throroughly. In other words, "Are we missing something?" "Did we leave something out?"

I doubt it.

Furthermore, as any social organism does, this forum has taken on an identity to reflect a social convention between the participants. From the beginning, in addition to discussion internet gaming, this forum became a defacto social club. The concept became cemented with the nickname, "The Zoo" and many managed to offer many social events to incorporate this concept, such as the KOTZ tourneys. Furthermore, not only were o/t topics allowed, they were encouraged because many of the zooers became friends and it seemed natural to post many otherwise o/t topics or updates amongst your freinds. Finally, as a byproduct of the social convention, more leeway was awarded to those who had established themselves and became "respected posters."

Ok, fine, nothing out of the ordinary so far.

Nevertheless, this does not mean this social group is entitled to remain constant. Is there some "cutoff" date where one cannot join the club? Is it not more reasonable to expect that certain cliques may wish to congregate in smaller circles ... and form their own "spin-off" clubs or forums?

Well, that seems to have happened. Whether one chooses to participate in these for fun or profit, it does not matter, but soon, there will be individuals who prefer to spend more time and energy with "their group."

Well, "your group" cannot possibly remain constant on a huge traffic site such as 2+2. The Zoo will continue to change to reflect all of the participants.

As long as the core subject is discussed, there is nothing wrong with the forum ... but, there may very well be something wrong with YOUR idea of what this forum should be.

From what I see, most come to their idea of what "should be" based on WHO rather than WHAT.

great post oski.In the end I only force myself to read the ZOO for value added ideas.Bonuses and tournies etc. That's the value for me.It's not worth getting into politics for me.I do enjoy it thu and most of the other forums on here and would miss it dearly if I couldnt access this stuff.

I tend to spread my bankroll over a large swath of rooms so I always like to know whats going on everywhere..If I miss a promo email, some bonus offering or tourney announcement there is a decent chance it will show up here! I had stopped playing bonuses of must kinds for half a year but have found them to be very profitable at many non-Party Rooms that have decent games.I must be making at least a $1000 a month just on poker bonuses over the last 2-3 months.I dont play the casino bonuses but seems to be alot of value there.

I think I have ruined my chances of ever becoming a "respected poster" by challenging the one sacred topic of this forum.

All who do not worship at the alter of Party will never gain acceptance and will be branded "shills, affiliates, props, conspirators and such".

Newcomers have been warned.

You can add "Thou shall not respect Phill Hellmuth" to the rules as well.

FWIW, I've never understood the whole "respected poster" thing. As long as you present your ideas without treating others like [censored], you are a respected poster in my book. It has nothing to do with post counts, whether or not you like Phil Hellmuth, etc.

but to have 400 posts a week from someone who can't afford a $6-$12 fixed limit game is an illustration of what the internet forum has become.

[/ QUOTE ]

if there were a 'small-stakes internet' forum i would go to that one.

to the best of my knowledge, lori plays pretty small stakes too....and i'm sure other 'regulars' or old-guard members of this forum do also.
i'm really not certain why stakes-level has any relevance.

i realize that i've been hanging around here and posting a lot lately.

my increased frequency of posting coincides with me starting to play internet-poker 'full-time' and i just like reading or writing for something else to do while 'on the job'.
although i would probably be better off focusing on the tables a bit more and on these forums a bit less and/or adding a 5th-table instead of 2+2 to my screens (which i am doing every once in awhile, but not at this moment obviously).

sooner or later, i will run out of things to say and i'm sure most of 2+2 will live happily ever-after (if not 'happier' ever-after).

it has also occured to me that some of the old-guard is here much less often while i am here more often.
i just like exchanging ideas....and have also had my share of 'idea-exchanges' (re: disagreements) with quite a few around here.....but i certainly hope my increased presence is not related to the decreased presence of others.
but if it were....i'm not sure i would do anything differently....since i believe my opinion on certain matters is as valid as anyone else's.

What limit you play matters little as long as you strive to be a winning player at whatever limit it is. IMO

IF you make a good living off the game it doesnt matter what you play whether its B&M $15-30,multiple low limit games online or bigger action..whatever works for you consistently year in year out and gets money on the table to pay your monthly nut..whether that nut is $2K,$5K or $10K a month ..whatver."Good living" means making enough to live happily within your means and the lifestyle choices you have made.younger kids dont talk about this stuff but they will someday
