Re: Did I fold too tight AQ on QJ8?
read this forum for a few hours and u will find lots of examples of pushing with less than aq...it just depends on blind sizes and chip stacks...moreso than ur cards many times
three reasons that this is a good stealing opportunity: there is 700 in the pot, which is >20% of ur stack there are 2 short stacks before the money, so lots of folding equity here no raisers before you orsetto may still call u since he's short stack and may take a risk, but u'll still be big stack even if he does and u lose the coinflip |

Upon reviewing the results of the hand you posted, I conclude that your flop fold was excellent! Well played!
PS Push AQo pre-flop. |

Re: Did I fold too tight AQ on QJ8?
Wow, I was just in a similar hand with ace/queen offsuit and got busted out of a tournament, and here's why. I didn't raise pre-flop and I let someone with queen/8 offsuit in to catch two pair. My lesson learned, raise with those good starting hands to get the crap ones out that can beat you, in your case queen/jack. I thought I was being tricky, and I ended up tricking myself. Great fold by the way. In my situation, I went against my read, and got busted, but you made the right call thinking that any 8 has got you, which is possible because of no raise, and the two other callers. So the better question is what are you going to do with ace/queen pre-flop to avoid this situation in the future?
