Go for a dell laptop then 512mb and uxga, the rest should take care if itself.

[/ QUOTE ]

is 512 enough for four-tabling on one site, AND running pokertracker?

if doing nothing but playing poker on it, (no music, no pic's) -
what would an adequate sized hard drive be, if one plays only 4-5 hours a week?

how important is the gHz for such a laptop, and what would you minimum requirements be?

i want a cheap, but efficient machine for poker only.
stubbornly, i want to buy new only.
thx,
doc

You could buy the budget model (lowest starting price) Dell Inspiron 6000, and only upgrade the screen and you'd be good.

I have the Inspiron 6000 with the WUXGA screen and I love it. 4 tables and space leftover.. It's a good machine.

if you prefer a highend display over resolution, then a sony vaio vgn s5hp with 13,3 inch screen and low weight and long battery life might suit you.
if you want to multitable and want low weight and extreme battery scope, then you should maybe wait for the new 14 inch samsung x1.if you want to multitable with no overlap and dont mind higher weight and lower battery scope ,then maybe dell is your way to go.
i personally am a sucker for sony, the display is extraordinary and you could also go for a bigger screen model to enable multitabling
