Default playing yourself in poker for practice...

Bobby Fischer was said to practice chess by playing himself for hours a day. Now I suppose you could do the same with poker by being totally nonpartisan and just making the most +ev situations given the board and your hole cards. The only thing is that it doesn't help you recognize betting pattern of players, which is what a lot of HU play is.

Any thoughts?
