The whole table had been pretty tight, and the villain was no exception. With 660 left after posting, a strong hand HU, and position, I was either going to raise 150 or push. If I raise 150 and he calls, I’m going to fire a continuation bet of 200 on the flop, if there are overcards and the villain checks first. Who likes this line better than pushing preflop, and why? If I push, I maximize my folding equity. I know there is only 100 in the pot, but that is 15% of my stack after posting, and I could really use it. If the villain does call, I’m going to be a slight favorite most of the time, and when I do double up, I’m going to have enough chips to start bullying all these tight-passive players.
If I were to employ the raise 150 and bet the flop line and lose, then I’m crippled. When I take down the pot using this line, I’m usually only going to win 100 chips more, with a lot more risk involved. 33sng – bb t50 Table Table 12928 (Real Money) -- Seat 9 is the button Total number of players : 10 Seat 1: HERO (710) Seat 2: dtrub (650) Seat 3: patzilla (375) Seat 4: Low_Card (715) Seat 5: SammyPSU (1255) Seat 6: Zoid88 (725) Seat 7: riverlong (910) Seat 8: howlndog (1030) Seat 9: i_fart_alot (860) Seat 10: autoandy (770) autoandy posts small blind (25) HERO posts big blind (50) ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to HERO [ 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ] dtrub folds. patzilla folds.
