"... some imaginary economists are predicting a catastrophic collapse that could affect the entire global system of fictional currencies..." [/ QUOTE ] Absolutely brilliant! Thanks! Looks like it's time to convert my fictional currency holdings into nonexistent gold bullion... |

Re: Go figure
If you think buying fake money with real money is retarded, check out these asses, buying fake land and paying fake taxes with real money to a couple of geniuses who have set up their own currency factory, err MMORPG.

Re: Go figure
I have to admit those MMORPG's are extremely fun but I can see why alot of people think they are pointless. EverQuest and DiabloII players used to sell thousands of dollars worth of stuff from the games every day before ebay disallowed that. I once sold a rare maul on D2 for 300 bucks.

On his blog he chronicles a year long quest to make a living buying and selling imaginary goods. So maybe he's the David Ross of Britannia. In any event I once tried to explain to him that Poker complicates money in a similar way, but from the opposite direction. In the Manifesto, Marx describes the modern world as a kaleidoscopic realm in which "all that is solid melts into air". I think if he were alive today he would go on to say "But there remains one thing we can all count on: Sklansky Dollars!" /mc |

[/ QUOTE ] People want the play money chips for their hobby- play money poker. It's like buying a fiction novel. You pay for expecting to lose money but get enjoyment from the product. |
