Mid Pockets
Is it worth it to call an all in with mid pockets on your blind on the bubble?
Today I had 88 twice on my big blind with 4 left, mid stack both times with everyone around the same stack level. I called both times as the raiser was from the sb, and I put him on ax. Once I was correct and lost, other time was a coinflip, he had aj and i lost again. I hate calling all ins but it seemed worth it. I'm wondering if the small edge you most likely have is worth the risk? Any thoughts? |

Re: Mid Pockets
I would definitely lean toward calling. Depending upon stack sizes, he could be pushing with any two.

Re: Mid Pockets
I agree with calling, especially because it was SB like you said. 88 is just about the right hand to put you in a 75/25 situation most of the time, or at least have a small edge in the coinflip. These are the gutsy decisions I think really payoff over time when you go into the top 3 with 50% of the chips in play.

Re: Mid Pockets
You give up too much if you fold 88 in the BB. Id call everytime, unless SB was super-super tight.

Re: Mid Pockets
I've lost to 88 loads lately from them calling my Ax, that should answer your question
