Ocean\'s Eleven Error? OT
I've watched Ocean's Eleven(the new one) several times, and there are a few parts that annoy me, but this one annoys me the most. At the end when they load the van with the dummy bags, where does the filler for those bags come from? The swat team doesn't move in until after the bags are loaded onto the van, so the "swat" guys can't carry them down, and then leave them on the elevator. Neither Matt Damon or George Clooney(sp?) bring them. I find it hard to believe that they have them stashed somewhere(elevator shaft, vault), so where do they come from? Am I missing something?

Well now - this gives me YET another reason to watch the movie.
BTW - they are making Oceans 12 with the same cast!! WOO HOO! |

Re: Ocean\'s Eleven Error? OT
I hated the entire movie, most of all Julia Roberts' "performance," but it was all worthwhile when Clooney, getting out of jail, takes one look at Brad Pitt and says, "Ted Nugent called. He wants his shirt back."
Andy Garcia is just taken for $160,000,000 and Clooney asks him if he got robbed and he lets him go? |

Re: Ocean\'s Eleven Error? OT
The 2nd most annoying part was that "Frank" was able to get the most incredible 3d schematics of the building as a black jack dealer. Either 1: they gave them to him(highly unlikely) or 2: he stole them(which is also incredibly highly unlikely. Schematics like that aren't going to be lying around, and he certainly doesn't have access to any place that the schematics would be in the first place. I could just see it "Ramon, welcome to our casino, here's a shirt, vest and a detailed CD-ROM of our security system."

It's a freaking MOVIE!! Not a documentary. You see, in a movie you are suppose to suspend belief's.
Do you REALLY think somebody playing poker would think a flush is all RED cards? GEE! I guess I can't take THIS movie seriously now. |

I have seen someone turn their cards over and seriously say "two pair, diamonds and clubs". |

True, but you can only suspend your beliefs as far as the premise of the movie will allow. In the Matrix, for instance, I have no problem assuming Neo can stop bullets. The movie creates a reality where that is possible. However, the premise of this movie does not allow for these things to be overlooked. The setting is present day Las Vegas, and in the instances I've shown here, I have no reason to believe those 2 things are possible. In this case you're not suspending your beliefs, you're ignoring errors within the set of beliefs the movie has given you. |

Re: Ocean\'s Eleven Error? OT
I'm with you on this principle, which is why James Bond's movies work for me, but Cliffhanger doesn't.
However Oceans 11 didn't bother me. The original bothered me in that it starred Sinatra but he never sang, and the music was the best part of the movie. Ain't that a kick in the head? |

Re: Ocean\'s Eleven Error? OT
i think they created a reality where these guys are really good thieves, so stealing the security system schematics, isn't impossible. i understand what you're saying, but i think that holds more true if perhaps the guy started flying.

Re: Ocean\'s Eleven Error? OT
Part of the fun of the movie is that they didn't tell the audience everything they planned so there were a bunch of surprises, such as Sol's heart attack, etc... When they took the $$ out of the casino and took off in the swat truck, they had enough time to make a switch into a different vehicle because Andy Garcia didn't catch on right away. If they showed us this, the whole remote controlled exploding truck would not have been a surprise. Also, in the beginning, Clooney got the blueprints for the casino because they knew the security guard who worked where they were kept. The only part I found implausible was the fact that they got all their plans together AND built the fake vault AND filmed the fake robbery. It would have taken at least a week to get all the materials delivered there, much less build the damn thing. And yes, Julia Roberts was terrible, but that's par for the course for her. Overall, I thought it was pretty entertaining, especially since I hadn't seen the original and didn't quite know the story. My only question is this: Where do I sign up to teach Hollywood actors to play poker?
