Default How the hell can I get an apartment?

Poker is my sole income, I make enough to support myself and family(im 20, sister+ GF). I've been living with my mom for 2 years now and I HAVE to move out. But whenever I call an Ad, they ask my job.

Then they start this kind of confused laughter, "WTF is a professional poker player"? Should I lie? Tell them I work at Wal-mart? What do you guys do that are pros?

PLZ help I need to be out today..

You say you're self-employed, not a professional poker player. This should be common sense. They'll ask you for a copy of your most recent tax return.

I have no tax returns.. at all. Am I royally screwed, or do you think they won't care?

It'll depend on the management/leasing agent. Tell them you're self-employed, have been for quite some time, offer to fax bank statements showing you have more than plenty of cash and have had consistent direct deposits (if you use Neteller), etc. If that doesn't work, offer to keep payments rolling two months in advance or something along those lines, so you put up first three months and last months initially, and continue making payments every month till you have three left on your lease. Things like that. You'll be able to work something out with somebody if you're smart about it.

Pay for 6 months in advance. I might do that soon just so I don't have to be bothered with writing a check each month.

Yea I already offered that to one guy, he said they can't do that because of legal reasons. If they had to kick me out for something.. maybe the guy was bullshitting me.

If you can pay your lease in advance someone will take you. If you have good credit and references on top of that, almost anyone should take you. Don't talk about poker. If you say you are currently unemployed but looking for a job you might actually be better off (if you can pay up front).
