Re: Hand Review: K8s from MP
My preflop strategy to this point largely consists of the suggestions of WLLH, which says to play AXs and KXs (down to K8s) from MP and AXs/KXs from LP.
My preflop decisions are not set in stone and I'm always trying to improve, so before I make this adjustment, why should I fold K8s in MP? Also, would you 3bet this river? |

Re: Hand Review: K8s from MP
simple,
if the raiser on the river is: 1. a monkey 2. over aggressive. 3 bet the river. and if he's: 1. tight 2. conservative calling/station 3. slowplayer call the raise on the river. |

[ QUOTE ]
why should I fold K8s in MP? [/ QUOTE ] How about - because it wont show a long term profit. But really K8 s00ted. How could it win. Well it could flop a K. Hmmm bad kicker, out of position. That should be fun, especially if it gets raised preflop. It could get a flush draw. Hmmm not to the nuts, bad position. It would be hard to maximize your winnings here. It could make a straight. Oh wait no it cant. Well hey theres always a full house!! K8s would maybe be profitable on the button after many limpers in the right situation. From MP, its trash man. |

It is probably time to be thinking a little harder about your preflop decisions. WLLH preflop strategy is a little too loose, and doesnt tell you all the things to factor in when making your decision. Search for the thread by Ed miller about preflop play from a couple months back. |

Re: Hand Review: K8s from MP
All valid points. I will have to finish TOP and start studying HEFAP. My PT does show K8s to be a loser, as well as K7s, K6s, K4s, K3s and K2s.
"Why not K5s?" you ask? [ QUOTE ] Well hey theres always a full house!! [/ QUOTE ] Thanks. |

Re: Hand Review: K8s from MP
I know it's suited and all, but, K8s is the type of hand that I like to see my opponents play from MP when I get into a game. With all that said I think you played the hand fine postflop. You have to 3-bet on the river, it sucks when he caps but I still don't feel that bad about it and expect to see a five or a crap flush. And you have to like BB. What a calling station.
I find poker to be an easier game to play when I feel that it is likely that I am in general entering the pot with higher cards than my opponents. With K8, I can't really feel that way. |
