Default How would YOU play this?

Here is a common Tournament problem I run into. Tell me how you would continue on with this hand.

You are on the BB with KQ. 2 callers. Flop comes Q74 rainbow. There is 300 in the pot, I bet 300. Player in middle position folds, third player Calls.

Do you:

A)Back off and Check-call
B)Bet again on the Turn (Barring a Scarecard)
C) Check and fold on turn to a big bet
D) All-in on Turn

Tell me what you would do and why and Ill post my results in a little while

Nothing here suggests I still don't have the best hand. If an A or an obvious str8 card doesn't hit, I'm betting the turn.

Generally, I'm betting something like 900 on the turn. If that's a big chunk of my stack, I'm probably all-in.

I agree with the others, in almost all situations, I'm betting this hand again on the turn. On the turn you've got to continue betting for value and your hand is not strong enough to give a free card. And it's also not strong enough to check and try to induce a bluff against an aggressive player, because what if he goes all-in, then you won't know if you can safely call. On the other hand, if you make a sizeable bet and get raised all-in, you can safely assume you're beat and lay down your hand (against most opponents).

This assumes no-limit. In limit I'm going to be more inclined to check-raise an aggressive opponent.

i would need to know the chip stacks, as i would 90% of the time raised to about 400 preflop.
but i am betting, or check raising. definitely not check calling.

Hi Smaegol,

Assuming no scare card falls (e.g.: 3-8, pairing the board or completing the straight), I'll probably bet about 500 at the turn. If he's on the straight draw, he'd be mistaken to call with only 14:5 pot odds and one card to come. If he has a lower pair, or a Q-lower-kicker, he may call. If he reraises, my set-sniffer pings big time, and depending on stack sizes, the raise, etc., I may lay it down.

Cris

Hi

Still a novice so take my thoughts lightly!! I'm with option B) as your opponents call on the flop suggests to me a draw or second pair with good kicker (A7?). I'd be trying to take away his pot odds for any draws and making his call with second pair expensive.

I'm guessing your tale didn't end happily though!!
