any two cards that will make the winning hand......the turn card and the river card.

Lets say you've got a little 3-flush and want to know your odds. You must hit on both turn AND river. Turn chances are 10/47 and river chances (if you make the turn) are 9/46. AND means multiply so your chances are 10/47*9/46 = .042 (4.2%). Odds are 1-.042:.042=.958:.042=23:1 against. A 2-out pocket-pair draw would be 22.5:1 against; so your back-door flush draw has the same chance as snagging a 2 to go with your 22 on the flop. But since you need to call again on the turn with your draw, its "worth" only about 1.5 outs.

you dont provide information. if he has a pair of 6's and needs 6-6 its different than if he has 3 to a flush and heads heart-heart which is different than if he has 10-8-6 and needs 7-9
